1508570 Water absorbing cross-linked starch derivatives UNILEVER Ltd 18 March 1975 [19 Dec 1973] 58918/73 Heading C3U A process for the preparation of a water absorbing cross-linked starch derivative comprises applying a mixture of starch granules, water, and a crosslinking agent as a thin film to a heated surface to effect granule rupture and crosslinking to produce a substantially waterinsoluble cross-linked gelatinized starch having a water-swelling volume of at least 5 ml/.g.
