1508486 Analogue to digital converter ASSOCIATION POUR LE DEVELOPPEMENT DE L'ENSEIGNEMENT DE LA RECHERCHE EN SYSTEMATIQUE APPLIQUEE 17 Oct 1975 42786/75 Heading H3H In an a-to-d converter an input voltage is conveyed with a set of reference voltages in parallel and true and complementary results of comparators 9#15 are summed as follows:- 9A+10B +11A...+15A=C;9B+10A+11B...+15B=D; if C>D then the output for the smallest bit on comparator 17 is 1, if C<D then 0. A similar operation on the results of comparators 10, 12, 14 gives the next bit on 18, or result of 12 on 19. Additional comparators (41, 42, Fig. 5, not shown) may be provided to inhibit comparators 17#19 for an out of range signal, and two or more modules may be connected in series with the inhibition comparators providing the next digit(s) (Fig. 6, not shown). Circuits of the various comparators used are shown and the device may be an integrated circuit.
