1508264 Water-soluble azo pyridine dyestuffs BAYER AG 10 June 1976 [12 June 1975] 24068/76 Heading C4P Novel water-soluble azo dyestuffs, in the form of the free acid, have the formula in which D denotes the radical of an aromatic carbocyclic or heterocyclic diazo component, Z denotes SO 3 H, OSO 3 H, COOH, CONH-COA 1 or SO 2 -NH-SO 2 -A 2 , in which A, denotes a C, to C 4 alkyl or phenyl group and A 2 denotes a C, to C 4 alkyl or optionally substituted phenyl group, n is 1, 2, 3 or 4 and X denotes an oxygen or sulphur atom or an NR 6 group, Q denotes a hydrogen or halogen atom or CN, CONH 2 , CONT 1 T 2 , COOT 2 , COT 1 , SO 2 T 1 , SO 3 T 2 or NO 2 , in which T, denotes an optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl group and T 2 denotes a hydrogen atom or has the same meaning as T 1 or can form, conjointly with T 1 and the nitrogen atom, a 5- membered to 7-membered heterocyclic structure, and R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R 4 , R 5 and R 6 independently of one another represent hydrogen atoms of optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or aryl group, or R 1 with R 2 and/or R 3 with R 4 conjointly with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached form a 5-membered to 7-membered heterocyclic structure. The dyes are prepared by diazotization and coupling, and are used for dyeing and printing natural and synthetic polyamides, as well as basemodified polyacrylonitrate materials.
