Abstract

1501994 Disazo dyes containing aminopyridine residues BASF AG 23 April 1975 [24 April 1974] 16790/75 Heading C4P [Also in Division C2] The invention comprises dyes which in the free acid form have the Formula I where A is H, C 1-7 alkyl or phenyl, one B is -NHR<SP>1</SP> and the other B is either a saturated heterocyclic ring of the formula -N# or is -NR<SP>2</SP>R<SP>3</SP> where R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP> and R<SP>3</SP> are H or optionally substituted aliphatic, araliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic radicals, X is CN or optionally N- substituted carbamoyl, Y<SP>1</SP> is H, Cl, CH 3 , C 2 H 5 , CH 3 O or C 2 H 5 O, Y<SP>2</SP> is H or CH 3 , Z<SP>1</SP> is H, optionally substituted sulphamoyl, OH, acyloxy (where the acyl group is that of a carboxylic acid), alkylsulphonyloxy or arylsulphonyloxy, Z<SP>2</SP> is H or optionally N-substituted sulphamoyl, T is -SO 3 H or -OSO 3 H and n is 1 to 3. The dyes of Formula I may be prepared by azo coupling or by sulphonating the corresponding unsulphonated dyes and may be used to dye natural and synthetic polyamides giving yellowish-red, red and bluish-red shades.
