Abstract

1508202 Compression-moulding thermoplastic materials MITSUBISHI JUKOGYO KK 27 May 1975 [31 May 1974] 23124/75 Heading B5A Thermoplastic high molecular weight materials are shaped by heating the material to a temperature (preferably 10‹ C.) below its second order transition point, applying pressure to the material to shape it (the pressure preferably being equal to 1/10 of the tensile strength of the material at room temperature), further heating the material to a temperature above (and preferably 20‹ to 50‹ C. above) its second order transition point while maintaining the shaping pressure, and cooling the material. Acrylic and acetal resins, polyamides, polycarbonates, ABS, PVC and PTFE may be heated at 10‹ C./sec. and cooled at 5‹ C./sec.
