Abstract

Metals and metal alloys are subjected to currentless nickel plating in a bath containing (a) 30-150 g/l of at least one complexing agent, (b) 10-50 g/l of sodium hypophosphite and 5-10 g/l of an accelerator, (c) a content of 0.01-0.05 g/l of CuSO4, calculated as CuSO4.5H2O as a stabilizer and (d) a nickel content of at least 7 g/l. The bath is suitable in particular for the currentless nickel plating of aluminium and aluminium alloys.
