Abstract

Preparation takes place by aerobic cultivation of a microorganism of the Streptomyces species which produces the said antibiotic, preferably Streptomyces rimofaciens B-98891, and isolation of the water-soluble base which is produced from the culture medium. The antibiotic belongs to the nucleosides; it has a pronounced fungicidal action inter alia against mildew of barley, of roses and of tobacco and can be used, e.g. in the form of a salt, in a crop protection agent for controlling plant diseases.
