Abstract

1505913 Infrared gas analyzers STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd 28 Sept 1976 [2 Oct 1975] 40309/75 Heading G1A An infrared gas analyzer has a black body source which is heated sequentially to various predetermined temperatures, and a black body detector which receives the source radiation after passage through the gas mixture to be analyzed. The wavelength of maximum source emission changes each time its temperature is changed, and hence a coarse wavelength scan is performed. The detector output is passed to a microprocessor which compares it with a theoretical gas having no emission or absorption bands at the wavelengths used, so as to compute the actual absorption by the gas and hence its composition. The invention is suitable for analysis of flue gases, and absorption bands of typical flue gases are given, Fig. 3 (not shown).
