Abstract
1505440 Electromagnetic brakes ARTUS SA 2 Dec 1976 [9 Dec 1975] 50217/76 Heading F2E An electromagnetic brake comprises a coil 18 and an assembly 14, 15 providing a magnetic flux circuit around the coil 18, the assembly including a fixed pole member 14 and an armature 15 comprising at least two independent armature portions 15a, 15b independently spring biased into braking engagement with the membor 20 to be braked, energization of the coil 18 causing the armature portions 15a, 15b to be drawn into a non-braking position in contact with the pole member 14. The member 20 to be braked may be a shaft (Figs. 2, 3) or a drum, internal surface (Figs. 4, 5), or external surface or a disc (Fig. 1, not shown).
