Abstract
1505309 Drying bricks A ROLLA 21 Nov 1975 [13 Dec 1974] 48073/75 Heading F4G An apparatus for drying bricks, blocks or tiles, stacked in batches 2, comprises a plurality of towers 1, 1<SP>1</SP>, connected in series and each including lifting and lowering means, e.g. an endless chain 9b, and means 5, 6 for transferring the batches from the down flight of one conveyer 9 to the up flight of the next, means being provided for passing hot air transversely through the batches 2. The batches are transferred from the up flight to the down flight of the same chain at the top and between adjacent chains at the bottom, of the towers by operating rams 6, 6<SP>1</SP> which act on toothed members which move the batches on to a conveyer 5, 5<SP>1</SP>. Hot air is delivered by fans 12, 13 to inlet pipes 20, 20<SP>1</SP> from manifolds 10, 11 connected, e.g. to a heater 17 having a burner 18, and is sucked out of each tower from pipes 19, 19<SP>1</SP> by fan 15. The towers are divided into two zones, the first using moist air, the second dry, and the fans 12, 13, 15 enable the velocity, and valves the temperature, of the air to be controlled.
