Abstract
1505275 Cephalosporin derivatives E R SQUIBB & SONS Inc 15 May 1975 [8 Aug 1974 11 Oct 1974] 20663/75 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] Novel compounds I (R is H, 1-7C alkyl, phenyl-1-7C alkyl; an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal or alkylamine cation; or -CH(R 6 )-OCOR 5 ; R 1 is H, 1-7C alkyl, phenyl, thienyl or furyl; R 2 and R 6 are H or 1-7C alkyl; R 3 and R 5 are 1-7C alkyl, phenyl or phenyl-1-7C alkyl; R 4 is H, OH, alkanoyloxy, or -SR<SP>1</SP> 4 ; and R 4 <SP>1</SP> is oxadiazolyl, thiadiazolyl, thiatriazolyl, tetrazolyl, 1-oxopyridyl or a 1-7C alkyl derivative of the heterocyclyl radical) are prepared by reaction of a compound II with an acid III or a derivative thereof. Pharmaceutical compositions useful as antibacterial agents comprise a compound I together with a suitable excipient.
