Abstract

1504610 Vehicle electrical systems DUCELLIER ET CO 22 Sept 1975 [2 Oct 1974] 38745/75 Heading H2H A battery charging system comprises a battery 6 chargeable from an alternator 1 by way of rectifying diodes 2, 3 and an isolating diode 4, charging of the battery being indicated by a lamp 7 which becomes illuminated from the battery when an ignition switch 9 is closed by way of the normally closed contacts 12, 13 of a relay 11 the operating coil 15 of which is energized by the rectified output of the alternator 1 in parallel to the battery 6 and the isolating diode 4 such that when the alternator 1 produces an output to charge the battery the relay 11 is energized to open contacts 12, 13 thereby extinguishing the lamp 7 indicating charging of the battery. The diode 4 prevents energization of the relay 11 from the battery and a resistor 21 is connected in series with the relay coil 15 to limit the voltage applied thereto.
