Abstract

1504024 Sintered metal coated heart valve AMERICAN HOSPITAL SUPPLY CORP 30 July 1975 31802/75 Heading A5R [Also in Division C7] A heart valve for implantation into body tissue has at least one surface coated with a porous sintered metal layer which is preferably applied by first coating the surface with an adhesive e.g. acrylic latex and then sprinkling the metal powder onto the adhesive. The layer is then sintered. Several layers of powder may be applied with intervening layers of adhesive. In an example -200 +325 mesh STELLITE (Trade Mark) powder is coated on a Stellite valve body casting and sintered in vacuum, at 1300‹C.
