Abstract

1503943 Pouring cement raw material FIVES-CAIL BABCOCK 22 May 1975 [31 May 1974 1 Aug 1974] 22413/75 Heading F4B Plant for the production of cement clinker comprises a rotary furnace 12, a combustion chamber 10, a multi-stage suspension preheater 1-5 of the cyclone type and a clinker cooler, wherein two air heaters 18 and 20 are associated with the preheater, air heater 18 being connected to the gas outlet of an intermediate cyclone 3 or 4 or the final cyclone 5. Incoming air from fan 22 passes first through air heater 20 served by hot flue gases from the preheater and through air heater 18 on its way to the combustion chamber 10. In a modification (Fig. 2) gases rich in alkalis are extracted from the furnace hood, mixed with cooler gases from a boiler (32) to cause condensation of said alkalis on particles in the gases and passed to a cyclone separator (30) to remove the impregnated particles. Another modification (Fig. 3) returns the cooling gases from an additional air heater (40) disposed between heaters 18 and 20 in relation to the general flow of flue gases. A final modification (Fig. 4) has air heaters 18, 19 and (20) disposed in the flue gases path between the cyclones and a waste heat boiler (46) heated by a proportion of the air from the clinker cooler.
