Abstract

150,368. Linden, L. Feb. 25, 1919. Louver and like floors; rotating conveyers.-Moist material, such as partially dried sewage sludge, is delivered from conduits 8 into troughs 9 arranged in an air heated chamber 1 and fitted with agitating blades 11. After treatment in the troughs for a certain time more material is supplied so that part of the material overflows, or the treated material is delivered through ports in the trough, on to a series of segmental tilting tables 13. These tables may deliver the material downwards to a second series of troughs 15 which in turn deliver it to another series of tilting tables 16. The dried material passes through hoppers 19 and grinding rolls 20 to a delivery floor 17 and is carried away by conveyers 21. Air, previously heated if desired, is admitted at 2 to the lower part of the chamber, passes through heaters 5, 6, ascends through the chamber and escapes through outlets 3 in the roof. Air is also admitted at 23 to the upper part of the chamber to aid in carrying off noxious gases. Fans 7 &c. are provided to circulate the air.
