1503135 Toy tracks PLAYART Ltd 22 July 1976 30661/76 Heading A6S A toy track section has at one or both ends a protruding plug of plastics material and a correspondingly shaped socket, the plug or socket having a detent and the socket or plug having a detent receiving means, the track section having electrical conducting rails with an electric connection between one rail and the plug and another electrical connection between the other rail and the socket, so that the track section can be both mechanically and electrically engaged with another like track section. As shown, toy track sections each comprise a plastics base 4 with a plug 2 and a socket 3 at each end. Spits 8, 9 make the centre, lower wall 6 of the socket 3 resilient, and a hole 7 is provided to receive a detent 15 on the underside of an inserted plug 2. Within the socket 3 an electrical connection strip 25 is provided and extends through slots in the base 4 to a metal rail 20. Shielded within the plug 2 is a connection plate 27 having a protrusion 35 to ensure good contact with the connection strip 25 of a socket into which it is inserted. The connection plate 27 has an extension 33 making contact with a second rail 21. The rails 20, 21 are slotted into sleepers 23 and crimped at 24 to retain them axially in position.
