Abstract

1502859 Haemodialysis apparatus RENAL SYSTEMS INC 19 Feb 1975 [19 Feb 1974] 6975/75 Heading B1X An ultrafiltration circuit of a haemodialysis apparatus comprises an input pump 20 connected to the dialysate input of a dialyser 10 via a first pressure control means 24, an exhaust pump 28 connected to the dialysate output of the dialyser via a second pressure control means 25, pump control means 30 for maintaining the volumetric throughput of the pumps substantially equal and means 32 for receiving any dialysate output which exceeds the volumetric throughput of the exhaust pump. The first pressure control means may be a pressure attenuator, e.g. a valve or pump and the second pressure control means a pressure amplifier, e.g. a pump. The rate of ultrafiltration may be measured by flowmeter 31 and the ultrafiltrate volume measured by graduated receptacle 32.
