Abstract

1502636 Continuous casting of circular foam blocks POLICASTILLA SA 27 Feb 1975 [28 Feb 1974] 8150/75 Heading B5A A method of producing foam blocks 19 having a circular cross-section comprises casting a foamable mass, e.g. polyurethane from a distributer 1 on to a liner 5, e.g. of paper and feeding the mass through arcuate mould elements 7, 8 on a belt 4 driven by a chain conveyer 3. The mould elements 7, 8 may be adjustable or non-adjustable. In the former case they may comprise a flexible sheet provided with adjusters 17 (as shown in Fig. 5) or articulated elements of metal or plastics material. The initial mould elements 7, 8 receiving the mass may have flat bottoms (see Figs. 2, 3) to improve distribution of the mass. The mould sections may be substantially closed at the top so that the only skin formed is that on a bead 11 or spaced apart (see Fig. 4) so that a skinned surface 12 is formed.
