1501820 Borosilicate glass CARL-ZEISSSTIFTUNG [trading as JENAER GLASWERK SCHOTT & GEN] 4 May 1976 [7 May 1975] 18270/76 Addition to 1419644 Heading C1M A glass (A), suitable as a near portion glass for fusion to a photochromic distance portion in a multifocal lens, comprises a basis glass (X) to which may optionally be added a component (Y) to render the glass photochromic, the basis glass (X) comprising, in weight per cent the balance, if any, consisting of one or more compatible constituents except the constituents of component (Y), and component (Y), if present, consisting of, in weight per cent The refining agent may be As 2 O 3 . The glass may have a refractive index n d of at least 1À60 and a linear thermal expansion coefficient of 45-58 Î 10<SP>-7</SP>/‹ C.
