Abstract

1501629 Boot trees DUNKELMAN & SON Ltd 14 March 1975 [28 June 1974] 28881/74 Heading A3B A boot tree, e.g. for the leg portion of a riding boot, consists of a pair of hollow shells 1, 2 held together by a strut 3 connected by hinges 4, 5 to the two shells, the shell 1 corresponding to the calf portion of the boot leg and the shell 2 to the shin portion. With the two shells 1, 2 arranged as shown, they are pushed down the boot leg until the bottom of the shell 1 rests on the insole over the boot heel. The shell 2 is then pushed downwards to position the strut 3 horizontally, Fig. 2 (not shown), thus forcing apart the two shells 1, 2. As shown the strut 3 consists of a simple screwed connection 6, 7 allowing adjustment of the strut length. In a modification, the strut (13), Fig. 3 (not shown) consists of an externally threaded adjuster screw (16) having a slotted head (19, 20) by which it is screwed in-and-out of an internally threaded sleeve (17) of square external crosssection within a square-cross sectioned outer sleeve (18) moving axially with the adjuster screw (16). Alternatively the strut may be spring loaded.
