1501528 Herbicides BAYER AG 19 Aug 1976 [21 Aug 1975] 34608/76 Heading A5E [Also in Division C2] A herbicidal composition contains as active ingredient a compound of the formula wherein X is H 1 Cl or NO 2 , Y is Cl or NO 2 , provided that either X or Y is NO 2 , R<SP>1</SP> is H, an organic radical, a metal cation or a cation of the formula in which R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP>, R<SP>4</SP> and R<SP>5</SP> are H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or aryl, or two or three of R<SP>2</SP> to R<SP>5</SP> can together with the N atom form a heterocyclic ring, and n is 1, 2 or 3 depending on the valency of the radical R<SP>1</SP>; in admixture with a solid or liquefied gaseous diluent or carrier or in admixture with a liquid diluent or carrier containing a surface-active agent. Other herbicidally active compounds may be combined with the compounds of the above formula, those which are specified are particular halobenzoic acids and derivatives thereof. halophenoxyalkanoic acids and their salts and esters, 4 - amino - 3, 5, 6 - trichloropicotinic acid, haloalkanoic acids and their salts and derivatives, nitro-alkylphenols and their salts. substituted ureas, substituted carbamic and thiocarbamic esters, substituted uracils, substituted pyridazones, substituted triazines, substituted nitrobenzenes and aryl-substituted alkanoamides. The surface active agents are emulsifying agents, dispersing agents and/or foam-forming agents. Specified emulsifying agents and foam-forming agents are non-ionic and anionic emulsifvers. Specified dispersing agents are lignin sulphite waste liquors and methylcellulose.
