Abstract

1500823 Diapers COLGATE-PALMOLIVE CO 19 Aug 1975 [29 Aug 1974] 34422]75 Heading ASR A diaper comprises an absorbent pad whose longitudinal side edges are four ply thick; two plies above or below a centrally extending panel and one ply on the opposite side thereof. The pad has an upper liquid pervious cover sheet 30 and a larger lower impervious cover sheet 32 which is folded upwardly over the side and end marginal portions of the originally flat pad. To form the diaper the unfolded pad has its longitudinal side marginal portions folded against one surface of the pad and the thus newly formed double-ply edges Fig. 5 are reverse folded against the other surface Fig. 3. Adhesive spots 46a, b, 52a, b secure the folds in place. In Fig. 7 (not shown) lines of reduced thickness provide the fold lines whereas in Fig. 9 (not shown) the adhesive spots are located slightly outwardly with respect to the edges 24a, b. In Fig. 8 (not shown) the panels are formed from separate pad segments which are enclosed within top and bottom sheets. Waistband tabs 60a, b are provided.
