1449678 Diapers COLGATE-PALMOLIVE CO 29 Aug 1973 40645/73 Heading A5R A diaper has a fluid pervious cover sheet 22 and an impervious back sheet 24 laterally pleated at 36 and 32 respectively, the pleats extending across the centre diaper region and being secured against full unfolding adjacent the longitudinal edges of the diaper. An absorbent pad 26 may be disposed between the sheets. It may be multilayered 282 Fig. 8 and secured together in two positions 286. For a cellulose wadding pad the cover and back sheets are longer than the pad so that they may be grasped and stretched independently of the pad. With a weaker wood fluff pad this is unnecessary. The pad (126) Fig. 5 (not shown) may have a taper in width towards its ends. Flaps 290 partly overlie the cover sheet when unfolded for use and are adhered thereto at points 292 in the central region and may be made by cutting and folding the pad.
