Abstract
1500688 Delayed action detonator for an impact fuse DYNAMIT NOBEL AG 19 July 1972 [31 July 1971] 33798/72 Heading F3A A delayed action detonator for an impact fuse, especially of an anti-aircraft projectile, comprises separate spaced casings each containing parts of the ignition charge-primary explosivesecondary explosive chain, the casings being so spaced as to provide a delay time of 80-400 microseconds. In examples a first casing contains all or part of the ignition charge which may be followed by part of the primary explosive (lead azide), and a second casing separated by 5 mm. contains the secondary explosive (tetryl) together with all or part of the primary explosive and with or without part of the ignition charge. Lead styphnate may also be used as the primary explosive and PETN or hexogen as the secondary explosive. The ignition charge may be a mixture of antimony sulphide, lead styphnate, Pb 3 O 4 , and tetrazene or a mixture of lead azide, antimony sulphide, silicon carbide, and potassium chlorate.
