Abstract

Drilling-machines.-In a crown-saw machine for cutting out circular holes in wood, the work is secured to a holder f<2> which is hinged at the bottom to the support g to enable the work to be pressed against the saw a<2>. The work is held by a clamp operated by a hand-lever, or is mounted in a slide on the holder f<2> which is drawn up to an adjustable stop by a hand-operated cord. A saw guard k pivoted at k' is normally held in the operative position shown by a spring k<2> and is pressed back by the work-holder when a cut is to be made. A shoot is provided to take away chips on the outside of the saw. A guard l and an apron m are used for catching chips when only the upper part of the saw is being used for shaping wood.
