Abstract
149,991. Blick Typewriter Co., (Assignees of Roberts, L. R.). Aug. 13, 1919, [Convention date]. Type - lever machines. - The detachable type-lever segment 45 is supported by end projections 52 seating on flat ledges on uprights 53 of the framework, and is positioned by dowels 54 and secured by pointed screws 57 which enter grooves in the segment. The screws pass loosely through holes in spring angle plates 55 secured to the segment 45, whereby the pressure of the screws is directed outwardly instead of across the segment. The type-levers are normally disconnected from the key-levers, as described' in Specification 135,470, the action comprising a slot formed by an arm 32 near the pivot end of the type-lever an operating-lever 30 carrying at its free end a pin 31 for engagement in the slot, and a link 33 connecting the lever 30 to the key-lever 28. The link 33 is pinned to the lever 30 and has an interlocking connexion with the key-lever permitting play in two directions, formed by an offset forked end of the link and a slot in the key-lever having a curved bottom edge. The type-levers have rounded end portions inserted in radial slots 46 in the segment 45. and are pivoted on an arcuate wire 47 seated in a V-groove 48. Returning-springs 51 for the type-levers are connected to brackets 50 on the segment 45. The operating-levers 30 are pivoted on an arcuate wire 59 concentric with the pivot wire 47 of the typelevers, in radial slots 58<a> in a fixed segment 58b, the slots 58a being offset slightly from the slots 48 towards the centre on each side. The key-levers 28 are arranged in three banks, the pivot lugs 40 being staggered to obtain equal throw for all the keys. The lugs 40 are, hung on pivot wires 41 in slots in a hanger 37 attached by screws 38. Springs 43 are located between the hanger 37 and each key-lover. Reference is made also to Specifications 150,682 and 159,888. Keys.-Uniform stroke of the stepped series of key-levers 28, in making, contact with the universal bar 63, is obtain by slitting the bar to form contact lugs 65 in stepped relation. Paper-carriages; sheet feeding and guiding arrangements; margin stops; line-locking devices; tabulating-mechanism ;carriage brakes ; carriagereleasing arrangements ; letter-spacing mechanism; back-spacing mechanism; ink-ribbon mechanism.-The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also various details under the above headings that now form the subject-matter of Specifications 159,888, 159,889, 159,890, and 159,891. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
