Abstract

1499687 Fibre layer former KARL KROYER ST ANNE'S Ltd 20 Oct 1976 [24 Oct 1975] 43945/75 Heading DIN Apparatus for dry forming a fibre layer comprises a distributor box with a perforate bottom wall 12 and an inlet 11 for airborne fibres which form a fibre bed which is agitated and whose height is adjustable by varying the distance between the bottom wall 12 and an excess fibre outlet 16, there being a foraminous forming surface 20 below the box under which suction is applied. The height of outlets 16 is adjusted by raising/lowering a sleeve 40 which acts as a weir to the fibre bed. Alternatively a top section of the box containing the outlets may be telescopically engaged with the lower part and adjustable in its height position. Also an adjustable obturator can be positioned at the outlet. The fibre bed is agitated by rotors 13 and the airflow induced between the box and the forming surface may be modified by adjustable flaps 35. Specification 1497808 is referred to.
