Abstract

1498904 Transferring sheets in printing machines HEIDELBERGER DRUCKMASCHINEN AG 27 March 1975 [28 March 1974] 12942/75 Heading B8R A transfer cylinder between the couples of a printing press which can be used to transfer sheets the same way up or to invert the sheets for perfecting has a gripper assembly rotatable about axis 48, individual drives being provided for each gripper element 60, 61 to rotate each about the axis the drives each incorporating a gear wheel coaxial with the axis. The drive may be obtained from a gear segment actuated by a cam, the drive for the respective elements being arranged at opposite ends of the cylinder. The cam follower may be adjustable in position to co-operate with two different cams to fulfil the two functions (Figs. 6, and 7, not shown). The gripper elements are preferably urged together by spring 67, and may have gripping surfaces which are curved and/or treated to increase grip, e.g. by grooving, or by coating with corundum or diamond. The gripper elements may be detachably connected, as shown, one to a rod 51 and the other to a coaxial tube 53.
