Abstract
1498901 Recovering used oils FOSTER WHEELER CORP 14 Jan 1975 [16 Jan 1974] 1573/75 Heading C5E Oil is reclaimed from contaminated oil, such as used crankcase oil, by steam stripping to remove volatiles, deasphalting with a countercurrent of solvent, and hydrogenating to remove impurities. The deasphalting can be carried out using propane at 100-200‹ F. and 400-600 p.s.i.g. The hydrogenation can be carried out at 650-850‹ F. and 25-150 atmospheres using a catalyst comprising nickel and molybdenum or cobalt and molybdenum on a silica and/or alumina carrier and which can be in the sulphided form.
