Abstract

1498623 Packaging; container closures STAR ALUMINIUM CO Ltd 24 March 1975 [29 March 1974] 13923/74 Addition to 1361593 Headings B8C and B8D In a container of the type wherein a lid 14 is held on a container body 10 around its entire periphery by a crimped-over rim 15 of the body, the lid 14 comprises a tab 22 connected to a main panel 16 by way of a single fold line 21a, the tab 22 being folded over on to the main panel 16 so that in the region of the tab only two thicknesses of lid material lie under the crimped-over rim 15. The tab 22 provides a manually graspable portion which on being pulled lifts a portion of the crimped-over rim 15 to facilitate lid removal. The container may be of square, rectangular, round or elliptical shape in plan. The lid includes a downturned rim 25, 26, 27 around which the rim 15 is crimped. The lid may be of foil, foil/paper laminate, film/paper laminate or coated paper, and the body may be of aluminium foil.
