Abstract

1480730 Holder for one or more containers ROBINSONS MULTIPLE PACKAGING Ltd 19 Sept 1974 [20 Sept 1973] 44275/73 Heading B8C A blank of foldable sheet material for forming into a holder for one, or more, containers such as bottles 54, comprises upper front and back panels 26, 26 hinged together along their top edge 14 and secured together face-to-face, lower front and back panels 10, 12 extending therefrom and separable to receive the container, or containers therebetween, and bottomforming panels 16, 18 joined to the lower front and back panels by crease lines 20, 22 formed in the blank so that the bottom forming panels 16, 18 are adapted to be folded towards each other and secured together when the lower front and back panels are separated, either, or both, of the lower front and back panels having an aperture 32 to receive and locate the top of the, or each, container when located within the holder and standing on the bottom. In a blank for three bottles, Figs. 1, 2, the neck of each bottle 59 is passed through a corresponding aperture 32 in the front panel 10 of the blank which is folded about the hinge line 14, the top panels 26, 26, defined by crease lines 24, 24, having gripping apertures formed by cuts 28 and creases 30 and being secured together, e.g. by glue. The panels 16, 18 are folded under the bases of the bottles and secured together by engaging tabs 46, 48 in corresponding tab openings 52, 50, T-cuts 44 in the back panel 12 facilitating their engagement. Crescent-shaped apertures 34 locate the lower edges of the bottles, cuts 36 forming tongues which protect the projecting portions of the bottles. A number of packages have a shrink wrapping 56. In a modification, Figs. 3, 4, each each panel 10, 12 has a set of bottle-locating apertures 62, 64, 62 the outermost 62 of each set having a pair of lugs 66 associated with a pair of T-shaped cuts 68 so that the lugs 66 are deflected outwardly by the neck of the respective bottle 54, Fig. 4. The back panel 12 is also provided with a crease line 38, apertures 34, and arcuate cuts 36. In a blank, Figs. 5, 6, not shown, generally similar to that shown in Figs. 3, 4 only one crease line (24) is formed in one panel (10, or 12), the line (24) extending along the top edge of the bottle-locating openings (70) in both panels. The front panel (10) has openings (72) to display labels on the bottles, and the top handle part (26) can be folded over.
