Abstract

1498383 Cementitious composition KOPPERS CO Inc 23 Jan 1976 [23 Jan 1975] 02753/76 Heading C1H [Also in Division C3] A slurry which cures to a concrete comprises water, cement, expanded polystyrene, and a homogeneous water-soluble composition comprising (S) a surfactant, (B) a liquid bituminous material, (P) a poly(ethylene oxide) resin, (L) a lignosulphonate salt and (D) a diatomaceous earth. There is preferably, by wt., 40-60% (S) + (B) and 60-40% (P) + (L) + (D). (S) may be (i) a cationic surfactant, or a blend of (ii) anionic and (iii) non-ionic surfactants. (i) may be a quarternary ammonium salt or secondary amine, (ii) may be an alkyl or alkyl aryl sulphonate, an Na salt of formaldehyde condensed naphthalene sulphonic acids, or an Na salt of a polymeric carboxylic acid, and (iii) may be a condensation-product of methylene oxide and a fatty acid, an alcohol, or a phenol. (B) may be an asphalt or tar having a Saybolt viscosity of 10-4000 SFS at 50‹ C. and may be obtained by diluting a solid or semi-solid bituminous material with a petroleum distillate fraction. (P) may have MW 250,000-500,000. (L) may be a Ca or Na salt. The expanded polystyrene particles have density 1-10 lb/cu.ft. Specification 1,333,817 is referred to.
