Abstract
1498172 Propellants NITROCHEMIE GmbH 23 Nov 1965 [28 Jan 1965] 49760/65 Addition to 1498171 Heading C1D A propellant having improved burning properties comprises nitrocellulose and an adduct of a polyacetylene and an organic compound of a polyvalent metal. Also present may be nitroglycerine and an oxygen carrier. In examples, adducts of polyacetylene and lead salicylate and lead 2-ethyl hexoate are mixed with a water-wet mass containing nitrocellulose and nitroglycerine. Other additives are dibutyl phthalate, diethyldiphenylurea, methyldiphenylurea, magnesia, graphite, and candelilla wax. In Example 2 lead phthalate is present as well as the adduct. The adducts are made by boiling the compounds together in absolute alcohol or by kneading.
