1497990 Composite ceramic articles TOKYO SHIBAURA ELECTRIC CO LTD 10 Nov 1976 [10 Nov 1975 (2)] 46814/76 Heading C1J A fully integrated composite ceramic article, e.g. a turbine rotor, is formed of a plurality of previously moulded constituent members, has a density higher than 98% of the theoretical value, a flexural strength greater than 50 kg./cm.<SP>2</SP> at 1200‹ C., and a uniform density (defined), and contains no foreign matter (e.g. adhesives) at the joints of the constituent members. The article may contain more than 70% by weight of raw ceramic material selected from silicon nitride, aluminium nitride and silicon carbide, with small amounts of yttria, alumina and silica. For integral bonding of the constituent members of the article, hot pressing is used.
