Abstract
1497737 Electric cables FELTEN & GUILLEAUME KABELWERKE AG 12 June 1975 [10 July 1974] 25188/75 Heading H1A The tension supporting elements of a sheathed and plastics insulated cable are made from filaments of plastics having a tensile strength comparable with steel. The filaments comprise an aromatic homopolyamide or copolyamide, e.g. m-phenylenediamine and terephthalic acid and in certain embodiments may be impregnated with resins or compacted into interlockable sectors to form the sheath. In a catanery cable conductors 1 surrounded by a plastics layer 2 and parallel bundles of filaments 4 are co-enveloped in an abrasion resistant sheath 5, in an alternative embodiment the filaments are impregnated with resin and cured directly on to an already sheathed cable. In an overhead communications cable mutually insulated conductors are surrounded by a plastics sheath comprising parallel bundles or twisted yarns of filaments impregnated with a resilient material.
