Abstract

1497310 Ventilation apparatus DRAGERWERKAG 5 Aug 1975 [10 Aug 1974] 32764/75 Addition to 1483203 Heading F4V In ventilation apparatus, ambient air 4 passes through a duct 6 provided with a filter 9 which is liable to be deleteriously affected by excessive moisture concentration in the air. So as to reduce the relative humidity of the air supplied to the filter, the air is heated upstream of the filter by a condenser 31 of a refrigerating system 31-36 which includes an evaporator 32. The air is supplied to any chamber for housing a living being. The chamber may be in a mobile device such as an ambulance or a command car or, as shown, a fighting vehicle 2. The air is drawn into the interior 1 by a fan 12 via an intake hood 3, coarse dust filter 7, the duct 6 heated by the condenser 31, the filter 9 (which comprises a fine dust filter 10 and a gas filter 11 for removing undesired gaseous substances in the ambient air), and thence through a duct portion cooled by the evaporator 32. After passing through the interior 1, the air flows through an outlet valve 14. The relative humidity of the air stream supplied to the filter 9 may be automatically controlled by means of a control unit 38 connected to a sensor 37 for measuring the humidity of the intake air and the temperature of the interior 1. The unit controls the temperatures of the condenser and evaporator. Foreign bodies are removed from the coarse dust filter 7 by a fan 39.
