Abstract

1497125 Gypsum plaster BUILDING ADHESIVES Ltd 18 Aug 1976 [3 Sept 1975] 36260/75 Heading C1H A tile adhesive dry mix based on gypsum plaster, for use when mixed with water as a tile fixative, is characterized in that it contains as an organic additive a mixture of a cellulose ether and polyvinyl alcohol, the cellulose ether being employed in an amount of 0À2 to 5% by wt. and polyvinyl alcohol in an amount of 0À2 to 10% by wt. calculated on the weight of the gypsum plaster, and the mix, when mixed with water to give a workable consistency, exhibits a tensile adhesion value of at least 30 p.s.i. Optionally the composition may include up to 10% by wt. of a fibrous additive (e.g. glass fibre, asbestos fibre, cotton fibre, chopped rayon or nylon fibre) and/or up to 50% by wt. of an inert filler (e.g. silica sand, limestone or dolomite).
