Abstract

1497019 Lamp holders D S GREEN 17 Sept 1976 38509/76 Heading H2E A light fitting for tubular lights having a terminal at each end comprises an elongate base member 1, a cover member 2 fitting over base member 1 and a pair of removable end caps 3, 4 fitting over cover member 2, base member 1 having at each end first and second contacts 6, 6a and 7, 7a respectively and a projecting terminal 5, 5a for contacting the terminal of the light, one contact of each pair being connectable to a supply conductor and the other being connected to or forming part of the terminal 5, 5a, each of end caps 3, 4 having first and second electrically connected projecting contacts 8, 8a and 9, 9a respectively engagable with respective base contacts 6, 6a and 7, 7a and the cover member 2 having apertures 10, 10a, 11, 11a and 12, 12a for the projecting terminals and contacts. As shown, an on-off switch 15 is located in end cap 4 between projecting contacts 8a and 9a. Two or more fittings may be connected in parallel, Fig. 6 (not shown). The fitting is conveniently moulded from a thermosetting plastics material such as phenol-formaldehyde or urea-formaldehyde resin. The projecting contacts and the corresponding base contacts can be mounted side by side instead of longitudinally of the fitting.
