Abstract

1496853 View-finder systems ASAHI KOGAKU KOGYO KK 7 June 1976 [20 June 1975] 23412/76 Headings G2A and G2J In a single lens reflex camera the view-finder system includes a combination of a trapezoidal prism 10, a right-angled prism 11, and an equilateral prism 13, so disposed that the light path is folded several times in passing through the system to the eye-piece 14, thus enabling a more compact structure to be obtained. Further compactness, desirable in miniature cameras, is obtained by interposing a glass block 5 between the shutter 4 and the film cassette 3. This has the effect of moving the focal point of the objective lens system back from f 1 to f 2 . As shown, when mirror 6 is in the viewing position, it reflects incident light to a prism 8, after which it passes through an erecting lens 9 to the prism system 10, 11, 13. Light incident normally on prism 13 passes through the faces 10a, 10b, and is incident on prism 11 along path a. It is internally reflected from faces 11b, 11c and passes back to prism 10 along path c, through an interposed focusing plate 12. It is internally reflected from faces 10c, 10d, along path e, to enter prism 13 where it is again internally reflected from faces 13b, 13c. Thus it finally emerges along path g towards eye-piece 14.
