Abstract

1496615 Dental handpieces L P FLATLAND 1 April 1976 13290/76 Heading A5R [Also in Division Fl] A dental turbine has a rotor 36 comprising a hub 37 mounted on a spindle 24 and a web 38 carrying blades 39 and defining annular chambers a, b with adjacent resiliently supported bearings 21, 22. Driving air flowing through inlet duct 11 picks up lubricant from coiled wick 14 and is directed by nozzle 17 to impinge upon blades 39, at least some of the air then being deflected into the chambers a, b before exhausting via restriction 20 through outlet duct 18. Rotor 36 is of gold alloy and has an odd number of blades 39 different from the number of teeth on tool 32. The latter is retained on spindle 24 by a split threaded head 27 accessible by removing threaded plug 29. Casing 6 is split into upper and lower portions 7, 8. For Figures see next column
