1496318 Cholesta-1,5,7-triene derivatives WISCONSIN ALUMNI RESEARCH FOUNDATION 27 Feb 1976 [28 Feb 1975] 06293/77 Divided out of 1496317 Heading C2U The invention comprises cholesta-1,5,7-triene - 3#,25 - diol (I) and 25 - hydroxycholesta- 1,5,7 - trien - 3 - one (II), and their preparation by the route: cholesterol # cholesteryl acetate # 25 - hydroxycholesteryl acetate # 25 - hydroxycholesteryl (IV) # 25 - hydroxycholesta - 1,4 - dien - 3 - one # 25 - hydroxycholesta - 1,4,6 - trien - 3 - one (III) # II # I, the penultimate step being base-induced isomerization and the other steps being conventional. In variants 6#-methoxy-25-hydroxy- 3α,5-cyclo-5α-cholestane # IV; and IV # III direct. Further conversion of I is as described in parent Specifications and Specification 1,496,319.
