Abstract
1496054 Making slip rings DUCELLIER ET CIE 14 April 1975 [22 May 1974] 15162/75 Heading B3A A method of making a slip ring assembly having at least two slip rings 3, 4, located axially of one another on a hub of insulating material 5, comprises axially stamping a tubular section of conductive material to form at least one annular projecting flange 2 thereby forming at least two slip rings 3, 4, providing fixing means within the rings, injecting thermoplastic insulating material into the tubular section to form the hub and machining the annular flange 2 or flanges to the level of the rings so as to separate them from one another. The hub is formed with a central orifice 6, which fits on the shaft of an electrical machine, and at least one longitudinal hole 7 for accommodating a lead. Cavities 8, 9 may also be formed in the hub to facilitate connecting the rings to their respective leads. By machining the slip ring surface flush with the hub material 2a, Fig. 4 (not shown), the presence of conductive material between the rings is avoided as when the material is below the surface of the rings.
