1495304 Optical filters AMERICAN OPTICAL CORP 1 Aug 1975 [1 Aug 1974] 32246/75 Heading C1M [Also in Division G2] A multi-wavelength optical filter for protection against laser radiation has added to a host glass (e.g. phosphate, lanthanum borate, fluoride, aluminosilicate, barium crown, dense flint, soda lime, or rubidium crown) sufficient Ce<SP>3+</SP> compound (e.g. chloride, nitrate or phosphate) to provide 0À1-5% Ce<SP>3+</SP> (on an oxide basis of the final glass), Er<SP>3+</SP> compound (chloride, nitrate or phosphate) to provide 25-75% Er<SP>3+</SP>, and Cu<SP>2+</SP> compound (chloride, nitrate, phosphate, acetate or bromide) to provide 0À5-10% Cu<SP>2+</SP>. The dopants may be included in a single host glass, or in two or three such glasses which are laminated together (e.g. by cementing).
