Abstract
1494816 Cannulas KENDALL CO 10 Aug 1976 [29 Aug 1975 3 Nov 1975] 33275/76 Heading A5R A device 50 for removing contrast liquid from the spinal canal, comprises a cannula 52 having one or more openings 62 confined to a zone extending 0.32 cm from the distal end 60, a hub 54 adjacent the proximal end 56 of the cannula, a connector 72 which fits into hub 54 and has opposed wings 88, a tube 68 connecting connector 72 to connector 78 which has opposed wings 90, and a syringe 70 which connects to connector 78. The distal end of the cannula may be closed Figs. 2-5 (Figs. 3-5 not shown), or open, Figs. 7-13 (not shown). There may be pairs of opposed openings 64, 66 Figs. 2-5 and 7-10, a single side opening, Fig. 11, a pair of opposed slots, Fig. 12, or a single distal end opening having a serrated edge, Fig. 13. Access to the spinal canal is provided by a needle used in conjunction with a stylet, Fig. 1 (not shown).
