Abstract

1493597 Windscreen washers LESANKO (EDINBURGH) Ltd 2 May 1975 [4 Feb 1974] 05097/74 Heading A4F [Also in Division F2] A windscreen wiping and washing installation for a vehicle comprises a pump for supplying washing fluid and valve means to direct the fluid in front of the moving wiper blade. The pump (not shown) supplies washing fluid to a valve chamber 1 whence it is directed to nozzles 9 or 10 depending on the direction of motion of the wiper blade. The valve means may consist of a loop of material 13 which by a rolling action covers or uncovers ports 7, 8 under the action of a weight member 14 which is pivotally mounted below its centre of gravity on the end of the wiper drive-shaft at a point below the axis of that shaft. In another embodiment, Fig. 3, a closed valve chamber 20 has an inlet 21 and outlet ports 24, 25 and linear movement of member 27 causes loop 33 to open and close the ports 24, 25.
