Abstract

1493272 Sponge rubber sheets INTERNATIONAL SYNTHETIC RUBBER CO Ltd 2 July 1976 [3 July 1975] 28028/75 Heading C3C A sponge rubber sheet is made by (1) preparing a mixture comprising (a) a natural or synthetic rubber comprising a major proportion by wt. of an ethylene/propylene-/non-conjugated diene elastomer having a crystallinity of at least 2% at 15-20‹ C., (b) at least one blowing agent and (c) at least one cross-linking agent, (2) forming a sheet of the mixture and (3) supporting the sheet on a mesh and exposing it to sufficiently elevated temperatures cause the mixture to flow, blow and cross-link the mixture. In the examples the mixtures consisted of an ethylene/propylene/ethylidene norbornene, whiting, clay, naphthenic oil, zinc oxide, stearic acid, sodium bicarbonate, tetramethyl thiuram disulphide, di-benzothiazol-2- yl-disulphide and sulphur.
