Abstract

PURPOSE: A rubber composition that is made by adding a specific polyalkylene glycol to an EPDM containing a sulfur vulcanizer, thus preventing the bloom formation after vulcanization completely without any adverse effect on the properites of EPDM rubber.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. of ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer containing sulfur or a sulfur compound as a vulcanizer are combined with 0.5W10pts., preferably 1W 3pts. of polyalkylene glycol of 1,000W8,000, preferably 2,000W5,000 molecular weight. The polyalkylene glycol is preferably polyethyelne glycol or polypropylene glycol.
USE: Roofing, window frame, hoses: it is suitably used in products in which blooming on the surface becomes a problem.
