1492927 Cutting apparatus C S E AITKEN 10 Jan 1975 [15 Oct 1973] 47990/73 Headings B4B and B5E A cutter for sheet material, e.g. asbestos, plastics or slate comprises a strip 1 of generally rectangular cross-section steel presenting a relatively narrow cutting face 9 and relatively wide side faces 3, 4 and having a handle 6 at one end and, at the other end, a pair of trunnions 7. The trunnions are in the form of a pin welded in the strip and are arranged to co-operate with the undersides of a pair of support members 11. The support members are spaced apart laterally to just clear the blade strip. In operation, the cutter is pivoted downwardly to effect a cut in the material 10, Fig. 3, the cutter then being progressively moved along the kerb to change the pivot point. The cutting edge 2 may be transversely hollow ground.
