Abstract

1492517 Slicing foodstuffs POPEIL BROS Inc 9 March 1976 [11 July 1975] 09333/76 Heading A4C A food slicer consists of a body 10 with parallel side walls 42 mounted on a base 11, a blade 24 attached to a table part 14 extending angularly between the walls, and a rotatable turret 20 having a pair of opposed plane side 23, 27 and a pair of opposed sides having respectively sets of large and small uniformly spaced upstanding blades 70, 75, the table part being fixed into either upper or lower guideways 21, 22 so that in combination with the sides 23, 27 the form of which when uppermost slopes upwards towards the blade, either plain slices of four different thicknesses may be cut or, with the sets of blades, large and small square section chips. A rear table part 15 slides in guides 72 and has its forward end located in a notch in the turret, both the table parts being located by spring-loaded levers 18, 16 which enable a projection 63 to enter a detent 62. The table parts have cut-outs 50, 56 to enable them to be gripped for withdrawal, movement rearwardly of part 15 being necessary before the turret can rotate. A spindle 80 passes through the turret in a bearing 89 at one end and is connected with a knob 26 at its other end. Withdrawal of the knob against a spring 85 enables a square section boss 86 thereof to leave a bore 88 and allow the turret to be rotated. A pusher 30 is manually held on top of the food stuff 5 and has a hand grip 31 and in a concave base pins 40 to retain the foodstuff, a guide 39 wider than the body side walls preventing the pins engaging the blade 24. In a modification the pusher has a plane base.
