Abstract

1492225 Vehicle spring brake units CLAYTON DEWANDRE CO LTD 29 March 1976 [28 April 1975] 17548/75 Heading F1D A spring brake unit has a pull-rod 8 through which the spring 10 applies the brake, and movement of the pull-rod in both directions is limited by flanges 15, 16 which engage the rear wall 6 of the unit. The pull-rod makes an articulated connection with a thrust plate 7, through a spherical bearing 9 which may be screwed or loosely fitted to the pull-rod. In the event of pneumatic system failure, the brake may be released manually either by rotation of a turnbuckle 21 or by rotation of a screw release 23, which bears on the diaphragm 2 by a pad 24.
